Whether you’re an incoming high-school freshman or senior, there are a multitude of things you can do to prepare for college. The University of Alabama’s admissions office offers a few suggestions on how students can better plan for their college futures.
This is the second of four posts that provide students in each grade level a checklist for college preparation.
Sophomores:
- Take the PLAN, the pre-ACT test. The results will help you focus on areas that need improvement for the ACT next year.
- Review your goals. Make sure you are on the right path to achieve them, and then take constructive steps to reach them.
- Attendance, grades and leadership count, so keep up the good work!
- Add new accomplishments to your existing résumé, or create a résumé if you do not have one already.
- Stay committed to extracurricular activities. If you are not involved in any, find an activity, volunteer work or job that will best use your talents.
- Attend summer academic programs that will help your transition to college.
- Begin earning college credit online and on campus while still in high school.
