UA’s Creative Writing Club to Offer Readings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Spring 2014 Creative Writing Club for high school students will offer its annual reading from 5 to 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, in Morgan Hall, room 301.

The Creative Writing Club consists of high school students — freshman through seniors — from schools around Tuscaloosa and the surrounding area. The high school writers have worked this semester under the guidance of students from the UA English department MFA in creative writing program and Robin Behn, professor of English. A reception and a release of the students’ writing will follow the reading.

The Creative Writing Club is in its 10th year. It has had support from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the Tuscaloosa Arts Council, The University of Alabama College of Arts and Sciences and the English department and program in creative writing.

The next opportunity for high school writers to participate will be the annual Creative Writing Camp, offered during June on the UA campus. For details, visit http://uacreativewritingclub.wordpress.com.
