TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Forensic Council will hold a showcase event in preparation for its national championship tournament in April.

The showcase will be Wednesday, March 19, 7-9 p.m., in Farrah Hall room 120.

Students in the national competition will use the showcases as opportunities to practice presenting everything from poetry to after-dinner speeches to oral interpretations of literature. It also gives students on campus a chance to see the 19-time national championship-winning team in action.

“Our national tournament is the biggest stage in the country,” said Bobby Imbody, forensics program director. “Before we head to Arizona State University for competition, we cherish the opportunity to speak in front of our biggest supporters: our families, friends and UA family.”

Performances at the event will include Collin Metcalf (senior, Cantonment, Fla.), after-dinner speaking; Tiffany Hornback (sophomore, Palm Beach, Fla.), impromptu speaking; Katerina Peña (senior, Bay City, Texas), prose interpretation; Blake McDonald (senior, Prattville), after-dinner speaking; Clifton Baker (junior, Tuscaloosa) and Katleigh Harville (sophomore, Morristown, Tenn.), duo interpretation; and Hannah Fowler (senior, Harrisburg, Ill.), program oral interpretation.

The team will travel to Tempe, Az., April 4-7 for the American Forensic Association National Individual Events Tournament. The showcase event is free and open to the public. The Alabama Forensic Council is housed in UA’s College of Communication and Information Sciences.
