TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Counseling Center will host “Open Your Eyes,” a program focusing on body image, from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Tutwiler Hall on the UA campus.
The program is part of Body Appreciation Week.
The event will feature a speaker’s panel featuring Susan Christian, staff therapist at UA’s Counseling Center; Sheena Quizon Gregg, assistant director of the health promotion and wellness department in UA’s College of Community Health Sciences; Miranda Ward, Miss UA; and Amanda Taylor of the Eating Disorders Anonymous Group.
The slogan of Body Appreciation Week is: “Don’t be blinded by society. Open your eyes to true beauty.”
UA’s Counseling Center is collaborating with University Programs, the department of advertising and public relations, the department of health promotion and wellness and the department of restaurant and hospitality management.
The event will also include a photo booth, free food and scholarships.
