Annexstad Family Foundation to Provide Scholarships for UA Students

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Annexstad Family Foundation has chosen The University of Alabama for their “Leaders for Tomorrow” national scholarship program and will provide major scholarships to selected UA students each year for four years.

Three students have been chosen for the inaugural class, and two students will be selected each year beginning in 2014. Under the program, the students will receive $25,000 scholarships payable over four years.

The Annexstad Leaders for Tomorrow scholarship is awarded to exceptionally talented young people who have come from humble and challenging backgrounds. UA joins 21 other universities, including such prestigious institutions as Harvard, Stanford, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt, as “Leaders for Tomorrow.”

“America has a lot of problems today…a lot of huge challenges that are going to require sustained thinking and energy and action in order for us to preserve a future for our grandkids and beyond,” said Al and Cathy Annexstad, founders of the Annexstad Family Foundation.  “What better way is there, in our view, to invest in the future of America than to help build leaders who will make a real difference one day for this nation that we all love?”

“We are honored to be selected as one of the ‘Leaders for Tomorrow’ institutions. This scholarship support will make a tremendous difference in the lives of some of our most deserving students,” said UA President Judy Bonner.

The Annexstad Family Foundation has awarded numerous scholarships since its founding by Al and Cathy Annexstad and their family in 2000.  The foundation also supports students at UA through their Big Brothers Big Sisters Scholarship Program.
