UA Wins $2.2 Million Grant to Improve School-Readiness, Family Well-Being in Head Start

More than 500 Head Start pre-schoolers across nine West Alabama counties and their families will directly benefit from a $2.2 million grant awarded to a group of University of Alabama faculty members.

UA to Sponsor Student Leadership Development Session in 2014

The University of Alabama’s Division of Student Affairs will host the first campus-based session of the LeaderShape Institute in May 2014. Applications will be available in January 2014 through UA’s student leadership programs. The LeaderShape Institute is a six-day ethical leadership development program organized through the Office of Student Leadership in the Division of Student Affairs. The division will sponsor 60 students to attend the UA session, covering the program cost as well as travel and lodging.

UA Faculty Aids in Push to Pardon Scottsboro Boys

University of Alabama faculty aided the Scottsboro Boys Museum and Cultural Center in setting the stage for the state to rectify a miscarriage of justice when the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles meets Thursday, Nov. 21 in Montgomery to discuss posthumous pardons for the “Scottsboro Boys.”
