ANNOUNCEMENTS

Students who want to receive emails to their myBama accounts rather than having their mail forwarded to another account should update their contact information on myBama at http://mybama.ua.edu. To get more information and step-by-step instructions for updating information on myBama, click here. Remember, students are responsible for updating their own information to reflect their preferred email accounts.

The University of Alabama Campus Mail Service has a new, expanded post office on the first floor of Ferguson Center, across from the University Supply Store. Students can log in to myBama and sign up for a mailbox. At the Ferguson Mail Center, students can mail letters and packages and purchase stamps, boxes and other supplies. A UPS and FedEx kiosk station is available for outbound packages. More information: Campus Mail Service at 348-MAIL (348-6245) or Ferguson Mail Center at 348-7807.

The Action Card Office and Transportation Services have moved to the Campus Drive parking deck-transit hub at 451 Campus Drive East. Here, students can receive Action Cards, deposit Bama Cash and buy parking permits.

MyTickets will be open in test mode only today through 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, for students to view the changes in MyTickets for the upper or lower deck ticket assignment and gate information.

Tickets will have either an upper or lower deck assignment.

  • Upper-deck tickets enter through Gate 30.
  • Lower-deck tickets enter through Gate 31.

Starting Sept. 15 at 1 p.m., MyTickets will open for UA’s first home football game. Transactions completed at this point are live and affect a student’s football-ticket account. Students can log in to MyTickets prior to the day of the game to verify which deck and gate they should access by using one of the following methods:

On game day, students who enter the wrong gate will be turned away and will have to get in line at the correct gate. To avoid this, students should verify their deck assignment and gate information in MyTickets prior to arriving at the gate.

For questions, contact the Action Card Office at 348-2288.

One of the University’s highest priorities is the safety and well-being of its students. One way students can stay safe is to avoid traveling alone at night and to confine walking to well-lit, regular-traveled walks and pathways. Students can refer to the Safer Living Guide for safety precautions to take on and off campus.

Students may also sign up for the GUARDIAN program, which allows students to use their cell phones to notify UAPD at the touch of a button if they need emergency assistance or to set a passive timer based on their expected arrival time at a destination on campus or in the Tuscaloosa area. If a student initiates an emergency call or if the notification timer is not deactivated, GUARDIAN software provides UAPD with critical profile information and, in most cases, GPS information to help contact and locate the student if necessary. There is no charge to sign up for or use the program. For more information on GUARDIAN, go to http://mybama.ua.edu and select the GUARDIAN link.

CAMPUS PARKING/TRANSPORTATION

UA Transportation Services reminds all UA employees and students that vehicles, including state vehicles, should never, under any circumstances, block a curb or ramp used by persons with disabilities. Also, parked vehicles should never block sidewalks or building access. Click here to read UA’s traffic and parking regulations.

STUDENT AFFAIRS

UA’s Office of Veteran and Military Affairs has scheduled two informational meetings for UA students who are receiving federal GI benefits. Affected students must attend one of the two meetings, which are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3, and Wednesday, Sept 4, at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Ballroom. Students who meet one of the following exceptions do not have to attend the Sept. 3 or Sept. 4 meetings: you attended a benefits meeting in the spring; you are only on the Alabama GI Bill (Alabama Dependent Scholarship); or you are a distance-learning student. Students who have classes scheduled during either of the scheduled meetings should send an email to vma@bama.ua.edu. Non-attendance could result in the delay of benefits for the spring semester. Click here for more information and to register.

The Office of Judicial Affairs is now the Office of Student Conduct. Under the new name, the office continues to be the central coordinating office for implementation of the Code of Student Conduct. For more information on the office or the Code of Student Conduct, go to http://www.sc.ua.edu/index.cfm.

Join the “One Team. One Bama.” movement in building a stronger UA community. Now through Wednesday, Sept. 4, students can submit their “Hey Y’all” pledge cards and take the first step in building a stronger UA community. Each student who signs a pledge card will receive a Hey Y’all T-shirt. Students who live on campus should submit their cards to their community directors. Students who live off campus should submit their cards to 132 Mary Burke Hall East. Visit the First Year Experience website at http://fye.ua.edu/calendar.cfm?p=2 – 2379 for more information.
