University of Alabama names Brewbaker law school’s acting dean
Tuscaloosa News – July 2
A University of Alabama law professor will serve as acting the dean of the UA School of Law following the retirement of Dean Ken Randall last week. William S. Brewbaker III will lead the law school until an interim dean is chosen, said Cathy Andreen, UA director of media relations. UA President Judy Bonner said last week that an interim dean would be named in the next few weeks and that the university would conduct a national search to find a replacement for Randall, who led the school since 1993. Randall is retiring to pursue opportunities in the private sector. Brewbaker joined the UA faculty in 1993, according to his university profile. He teaches courses on health care law, health care liability, property and jurisprudence.

University of Alabama students to meet Nobel Prize winners this week, will blog about experiences
Al.com – July 2
The two University of Alabama students who are mixing and mingling with Nobel Prize laureates this week will blog about their adventures as well. Michele Stover and Steven Kelley, both graduates students in UA’s College of Arts and Sciences, were selected to attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting with more than 600 students from around the world. The annual conference is designed to foster interaction between young researchers and the lauded leaders in their field. The two will periodically blog throughout the week at uanews.ua.edu. Today, Stover wrote about their first day at the meeting on Sunday. “I looked up to see the Laureates walking into the room while a video of their names and pictures played on the screens behind them,” Stover wrote. “It was an awe-inspiring moment. I had chills. The reality of the grandness of what I was about to experience over the next week had finally hit me. I knew, at that moment, this would be a week I would never forget, and that I would never be the same when I returned.”
