TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Forensic Council will hold several showcase events in preparation for its national championship tournament in April.
The primary showcase will be Wednesday, March 20, 7-9 p.m. in the Ferguson Center theater, with smaller events held Monday, March 18, 7-9 p.m., Bidgood Hall, room 110; Tuesday, March 19, 7-9 p.m., Reese Phifer Hall, room 180; and Thursday, March 21, 7-9 p.m., Reese Phifer Hall, room 180.
Students in the national competition will use the showcases as opportunities to practice presenting everything from poetry to after-dinner speeches to oral interpretations of literature. It also gives students on campus a chance to see the 19-time national championship-winning team in action.
“We take off in less than three weeks for our biggest tournament of the year,” said Bobby Imbody, forensics program director. “This gives the team the chance to speak on a big stage with a big audience, but, more importantly, it gives them a chance to show just how special what we do is to the people who support us.”
Each showcase event is free and open to the public. The Alabama Forensic Council is housed in UA’s College of Communication and Information Sciences.
