Luncheon to Honor Coca-Cola First Generation Scholars at UA

NOTE: Media are invited to this event and are welcome to arrive before noon to meet the students and to stay for lunch.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A luncheon honoring The University of Alabama’s 2012-2013 Coca-Cola First Generation Scholars will be at noon Tuesday, April 2, in Smith Hall on the UA campus.

The speaker will be Gary P. Fayard, Coca-Cola executive vice president and chief financial officer. Fayard earned a bachelor’s degree from UA’s Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration. Other Coca-Cola executives will be on hand to meet and honor the 12 freshman recipients of the Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarships. UA President Judy Bonner will present the recipients with certificates from the Coca-Cola Foundation.

The Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarships are awarded to deserving Alabama students who are the first in their families to attend college. Each student will receive a $5,000 scholarship each year for four years.
