TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ― The University of Alabama Advertising Team is getting out its brushes for Ferg Fest on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31 in the Ferguson Center Plaza from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The event will feature three stations, with the third offering a chance to paint various classroom items donated by Tuscaloosa businesses like Habitat ReStore. Once painted, the items will be delivered to Tuscaloosa city schools affected by the April 2011 tornado. All members of the UA community are invited to Ferg Fest.
Myreete Wolford, Ad Team’s president, said the fest allows Ad Team members to promote their client, Glidden paint, while doing something to help Tuscaloosa.
“We kept talking about ways to incorporate Glidden into our everyday lives and thought, ‘Why not start with our own community?’” Wolford said. “This is Ad Team’s way of recognizing the need for help that still exists in Tuscaloosa and doing something about it.”
Ad Team returns to the National Student Advertising Competition this year with Glidden paint as the client. Last year, the team placed second in the national competition after winning at the district level. The Ad Team is housed in the department of advertising and public relations in UA’s College of Communication and Information Sciences.
