Camp 1831 to Introduce UA Students to Traditions, Civic Engagement

Students new to The University of Alabama will learn about the Capstone’s traditions, meet fellow freshmen and get a taste of adventure during Camp 1831, a program of UA’s Division of Student Affairs Office of First Year Experience.

UA Hosting Science Competition

The University of Alabama will host a regional Science Olympiad competition for about 400 middle and high-school students in the Ferguson Center Ballroom Feb. 9.

UA Astronomy Public Nights Feature Star-Gazing, Talk on Higgs Boson

The University of Alabama’s department of physics and astronomy invites members of the community to attend a series of public nights this season to look at the heavens through UA telescopes. The first of the free viewings is Thursday, Jan. 24 in 227 Gallalee Hall. The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a talk by Dr. Conor Henderson, UA assistant professor of physics and astronomy, on the discovery of the Higgs boson, or Higgs particle. Beginning at 8 p.m., Ron Buta, UA assistant professor, welcomes visitors to peer at the moon and Jupiter through telescopes in the dome atop Gallalee Hall.

McCollough Medical Scholar’s Forum Features VP of Top Medical Insurance Group
