UA, Notre Dame Students and Alumni to Work Together in Discover BCS National Championship Service Project

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Students and alumni from The University of Alabama and the University of Notre Dame will come together to have a positive impact on the Miami community during the Discover BCS National Championship Game service project.

Representatives of the two universities will work together with Roots in the City on an urban gardening project aimed at promoting community development and beautification in inner-city areas.

The service project will be Sunday, Jan. 6, from 1-4:30 p.m., with check-in and lunch beginning at noon. There will be a closing celebration with refreshments.

UA participants must pre-register online by at www.volunteer.ua.edu/upprograms.cfm.  Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Participants will need to provide their own transportation to the service location. More information will be provided about the exact location of the project.

In addition, UA students who will be in Tuscaloosa on Monday, Jan. 7, will have an opportunity to participate in a local National Championship Service Project from 9-11 a.m. Check-in will be at 8:30 a.m. in the Ferguson Center Plaza. Volunteers will be working with Tuscaloosa Parks & Recreation and the Tuscaloosa Volunteer Reception Center.

Transportation will be provided to the service location. Lunch will be provided following the service.
