UA Accounting Program Jumps Two Spots in PAR Rankings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse School of Accountancy’s undergraduate program is ranked No. 18 in “Public Accounting Report’s” 2012 Annual Professors Survey.

The program was ranked No. 20 last year.

This is the 31^st ranking of the nation’s university accounting programs. “Public Accounting Report” is a monthly  newsletter that covers competitive intelligence and the business side of the public accounting profession.

Among its features are the PAR Top 100, an annual ranking of the 100 largest accounting firms in the United States; and the PAR Professors Survey, an annual ranking of the best accounting programs in the United States based on the opinions of accounting professors at American universities.

“This is a testament to the hard work of our faculty and staff and the quality of our students who consistently earn positions at the nation’s most prestigious accounting firms,” said Dr. Mary Stone, head of the Culverhouse School of Accountancy.

The school’s master’s programs are ranked 18th (24th last year) and the doctoral program is ranked 22nd (not ranked last year).

“These rankings are important to our students, their parents and the professionals who support our programs,” said Dr. J. Michael Hardin, dean of the Culverhouse College of Commerce. “My hat is off to Dr. Stone and the faculty and staff of the accounting program.”
