Academic Integrity Week Events Set at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Events for Academic Integrity Week will be held at The University of Alabama Oct. 8-12.

The week is hosted by the UA Academic Honor Council, a student organization that works with faculty members and students to increase the awareness of academic integrity.

The schedule for the 2012 Academic Integrity Week includes:  

Monday, Oct. 8 – The AHC, SGA and student athletes will pass out free Denny Dogs and water on the Quad from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Students will be asked to sign a flag and make a pledge to integrity.

Tuesday, Oct. 9 – Each college will be holding their own academic integrity workshop designed and led by the college’s AHC members.

Wednesday, Oct. 10 – Federal Judge Mark Fuller will talk to students about his experience with ethics in the courtroom at 6 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Heritage Room. The Academic Integrity Week Banquet will be held at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Heritage Room.  

Thursday, Oct. 11 – The AHC and student athletes will be passing out promotional items on the Quad from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. AHC will then be searching for five students using the promotional items from 2-4 p.m. and each winner will receive a Supply Store gift card. 

Friday, Oct.12 – AHC members and students athletes will be passing out free Denny Dogs and bottles of water at the UA Women’s Soccer Team game vs. Mississippi State at 7 p.m. on campus. 

The goal of the week is to instill and inspire a culture of honesty and integrity across campus. This year’s theme is “Champions don’t cheat. Choose Integrity!”
