UA Listed with Top Military Friendly Universities

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama has been named to the list of the top 15 percent of military friendly schools nationwide.

“We are honored to be included on the 2013 Military Friendly Schools List,” said David Blair, director of the UA Office of Veteran and Military Affairs.

“This recognition is a testament to the efforts and dedication of our faculty and staff to serving our student veterans, service members and dependents. The newly established Office of Veteran and Military Affairs, a division of Student Affairs, proudly serves the needs of this special population in collaboration with many other departments across campus,” he said.

Victory Media issues an annual list honoring the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that serve military service members, veterans and spouses as students and encourage their success on campus.

This year’s Military Friendly Schools list was based on a survey of some 3,000 student veterans. More than 12,000 VA-approved schools were surveyed nationwide.

“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools shows the University of Alabama’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins of Victory Media.
