UA Researchers Seek Pain Sufferers’ Feedback on Yoga

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Members of the psychology department at The University of Alabama are seeking participants for a research study on attitudes toward yoga among chronic-pain sufferers.

Martha Combs, a doctoral student at UA, is leading the research. She is seeking Tuscaloosa community residents who are 55 and older and who have significant pain resulting from an injury or medical condition that has lasted at least three months. Researchers will ask participants to complete three brief questionnaires and respond to in-person interview questions about pain history and yoga attitudes.

Participants will be compensated $10 for completing their role in the research study.

Anyone interested in participating should contact the UA psychology department at 205/348-5083 or send an email to Combs at UAYogaStudy@gmail.com.

The psychology department is part of UA’s College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest liberal arts college in the state. Students from the College have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the USA Today Academic All American Team.
