TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies is sponsoring the 25th annual Alabama Governor’s Safety and Health Conference, Aug. 27-29, in Orange Beach.
This year, the conference celebrates 25 consecutive years of championing safety and health for workers throughout Alabama and the surrounding region
The Alabama Governor’s Safety and Health Conference is considered the premier safety and health conference in the Southeast. It is also the largest conference of its type in Alabama and the Gulf Coast region.
The conference is designed for people who are involved with safety and health programs in the workplace, including: safety and health professionals, plant superintendents, human resource managers, compliance managers, loss control specialists, building superintendents, safety training supervisors, state agencies, environmental professionals, occupational health nurses case managers and worker’s compensation managers.
This year’s conference program will blend new and traditional topics, based on requests from past participants. Additionally, some 50 exhibitors will be featuring products and services of interest to safety and health professionals.
The conference includes general sessions on Monday, Aug. 27, and Wednesday, Aug. 29, featuring two keynote speakers. On Monday, Edwin G. Foulke Jr., a partner in Fisher & Phillips LLP who was named among the “50 Most Influential EHS Leaders” in 2008, 2010 and 2011, will speak. Addressing participants on Wednesday will be Dr. Todd Conklin, senior adviser to the associate director at Los Alamos National Laboratory, with his emphasis on organizational development and human reliability.
Breakout sessions will also be offered in specialty tracks that include leadership, new safety professionals, construction, manufacturing and general industry, industrial hygiene, transportation, risk management, workers’ compensation and best practices.
