Trussville Student Elected UA SGA President

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Matt Calderone, a junior from Trussville majoring in political science, was elected president of The University of Alabama Student Government Association for the 2012-2013 term.

Some 10,115 votes were cast in the election that was held through online voting March 6.

Calderone received 6,404 votes to defeat challengers David Wilson II, a junior from Tuscaloosa majoring in finance, and Shea Stripling, a junior majoring in English from Decatur.

Executive vice president: Matt Harris, of Jacksonville, Fla.

Vice president for academic affairs: Denzel Evans-Bell, of Birmingham.

Vice president for external affairs: Jimmy Taylor, of Fairhope.

Vice president for financial affairs: Andy Koonce, of Knoxville, Tenn.

Vice president for student affairs: Will Pylant, of Hampton Cove.

Executive secretary: Brielle Appelbaum, of Boca Raton, Fla.
