NATIONAL FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATION — UA will celebrate the football team’s recent national championship on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The event will feature the football team and head coach Nick Saban and will last approximately one hour. Admission is free. Gates open at noon. Seating is first come, first-served and will be limited to the west side of the stadium. Fans can access the stadium via the lower level entrances by entering through gates 10-13 and 16-19. They also can access gates 5 and 21 for the upper levels and on the west side of the stadium. The first 1,000 UA students with a valid UA Action Card can access the field for the event though gate 31 located at the southeast side of the stadium. The first 1,000 general public fans that wish to watch the event from the field will be allowed to enter via gate 30. The first 30,000 fans entering the stadium will receive a poster of the championship team. Fans can also have their photographs taken with the BCS National Championship trophy in the south end-zone plaza starting at noon. Visit http://uagameday.com for additional information.

In conjunction with the celebration, the Ferguson Center location of the University Supply Store will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The SUPe will give away free posters while they last and will also have Bama BCS national championship merchandise for sale.

Road Closings

The following roads will be closed Jan. 21 for the celebration:

  • Colonial Drive between University Boulevard and Bryant Drive beginning at 8 a.m.
  • Wallace Wade Avenue between University Boulevard and Bryant Drive beginning at 10 a.m.
  • Bryant Drive between Colonial Drive and Wallace Wade Avenue beginning at 10 a.m.
  • Magnolia Drive beginning at 8 a.m.
  • Sixth Avenue between University Boulevard and Bryant Drive beginning at 8 a.m.

Parking

Fans attending the celebration are encouraged to park in the following locations:

  • East and West ten Hoor surface lots
  • North and South ten Hoor parking decks
  • Campus Drive West lot behind Publix
  • Coleman Coliseum
  • Campus Drive Deck
  • East Campus parking lots
  • Communications Card and Wallace Wade parking lots (parking for people with disabilities)

Residential students who live on campus should park in their designated parking areas as fans will not be permitted to park there.

Game-day shuttles will run from the Soccer lot to Ninth Avenue in front of Graves Hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
