UA’s Bama Grad Expo Seeks Top Prospective Students for Campus Visit

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama will host Bama Grad Expo 2012, which brings top prospective graduate students to campus, Jan. 12-14, 2012.

Bama Grad Expo especially seeks students from underrepresented populations.

All travel expenses will be paid for students who complete an application for one of the graduate programs highlighted at the event, including: American studies, anthropology, art and art history, biological sciences, chemistry, communicative disorders, criminal justice, English, gender and race studies, geography, geological sciences, history, mathematics, modern languages and classics, music, physics and astronomy, political science, psychology, and theatre and dance.

The annual event, hosted by the UA College of Arts and Sciences and the UA Graduate School, is looking for highly motivated, high-achieving prospective students for graduate programs in The University of Alabama College of Arts and Sciences. The University of Alabama’s Museum of Natural History will host research presentations by current UA grad students, as well as a dinner concluding the formal activities of the Expo.

The three-day event provides students the chance to learn about degrees offered and to visit with current graduate students and faculty in their department of interest. Students also can investigate research, creative and scholarly opportunities, as well as tour the campus.

All college seniors seeking a rewarding graduate experience with strong faculty mentoring in research, scholarship and creative activities are invited to apply. Underrepresented populations, McNair Scholars, and first-generation college students are especially encouraged to participate.

All expenses – travel, lodging and meals – for students selected to participate in Bama Grad Expo will be paid as long as the students have completed an application for one of the graduate programs highlighted at Bama Grad Expo. Also, students who are selected to participate in Bama Grad Expo will have their Graduate School application fee waived.
