Five UA Administrators Honored for Support for Employees in the National Guard, Reserve

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Five University of Alabama administrators have been honored with Patriotic Employer awards from the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve or ESGR.

James Ramage, a volunteer with ESGR, recently presented the awards to Dr. Judy Bonner, executive vice president and provost; Dr. John McGowan, vice provost for information technology; Dr. Louis Pitschmann, dean of University libraries; Teri Terry, director of technology and testing, and Ashley Ewing, information security officer.

The administrators were nominated by Bob Fabien Zinga, a former UA employee, in recognition of their support for his military service while he worked at UA.

Zinga, who served in a number of positions at UA, including information security engineer in the Office of Information Technology, is a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and currently serves as director of cybersecurity and privacy for the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif.
