TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Dr. Anne LeBaron, a harpist and composer who is a distinguished alumna of The University of Alabama’s New College, will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in the recital hall of Moody Music Building.
The concert is free and open to the public.
It is part of the 40th-anniversary celebration for New College, an interdisciplinary liberal arts program in UA’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Joining LeBaron in the concert are UA alumna and noted Birmingham-based violist LaDonna Smith, as well as and Dr. Jubal Fulks, UA assistant professor of violin; and Dr. Andrew Raffo Dewar, saxophonist and UA assistant professor in New College and music.
LeBaron’s compositions embrace an exotic array of subjects encompassing vast reaches of space and time, according to her website. She is widely recognized for her work in instrumental, electronic and performance realms.
LeBaron, who is professor of music at the California Institute of the Arts, earned a doctorate at Columbia University. She is the recipient of the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, the Alpert Award in the Arts and a Fulbright Full Fellowship. For more information about LeBaron, go to www.annelebaron.com.

New College is part of UA’s College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest liberal arts college in the state.
