UA Sponsors Safety and Health Conference

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies is sponsoring the 24th annual Alabama Governor’s Safety and Health Conference Aug. 29-31 in Orange Beach.

The Alabama Governor’s Safety and Health Conference is considered the premier safety and health conference in the Southeast. It is also the largest conference of its type in Alabama and the Gulf Coast region.

The conference is designed for people who are involved with safety and health programs in the workplace, including: safety and health professionals, plant superintendents, human resource managers, compliance managers, loss control specialists, building superintendents, safety training supervisors, state agencies, environmental professionals, occupational health nurses case managers and worker’s compensation managers.

The conference is made up of two general sessions on Monday, Aug. 29, and Wednesday, Aug. 31, featuring three keynote speakers: Brig. Gen. William T. Wolf, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center, on Monday, and, Billy L. Harbert, president and CEO of B.L. Harbert International and Frank Wampol, corporate safety director for B.L Harbert International, both on Wednesday.

Breakout sessions will be offered in specialty tracks that include industrial hygiene, construction, new to safety, manufacturing, safety leadership, military, and risk management/transportation.

Interested attendees may also receive continuing education credits. Continuing education credits are available during NIMS certified sessions and pending approval from the following associations: American Nursing Credential Commission, Alabama State Nursing Association, Certified Safety Professional and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.
