Beginning May 25, the northbound lane of Old Hackberry Lane will be closed from the back entrance of Shelby Hall and the McMillan Building down to the intersection of Old Hackberry Lane and the new Hackberry Lane. The southbound lane will be open for two-way traffic. Beginning June 1, the southbound lane will be closed and the northbound lane will be open for two-way traffic.

The U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan program is available for uncompensated losses for property damage and economic injury. SBA disaster loan specialists are stationed in Tuscaloosa at a newly opened Business Recovery Information Center 800 22nd Street, downtown Tuscaloosa. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  UA individuals who were impacted by the storm can meet with SBA disaster loan specialists at the center to learn how the program can help them. You may fill out a low-interest loan application online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. The deadline for filing is June 27. Faculty, staff and students who were affected by the April 27 tornado are encouraged to apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Visit http://www.disasterassistance.gov or call toll-free 800-621-FEMA (3362) to apply. The TTY number is 800-462-7585.

Faculty, staff and students who were impacted by April’s tornado are encouraged to complete an application for financial assistance from the UA Acts of Kindness Fund. To apply for assistance, click here. UA employees can use payroll deduction to contribute to the fund by completing the Acts of Kindness Fund Payroll Deduction Authorization Form. Contributions are also accepted online at http://bit.ly/uaactsofkindness.

A big part of UA’s mission involves service. UA’s faculty, staff and students were there for the city of Tuscaloosa in the aftermath of April’s tornado. Click here to hear how one UA employee used her skills to service the needs of those in Tuscaloosa affected by the storm.

Members of the University’s ROTC programs will conduct a training exercise between noon and 4 p.m. on May 25 in and around the ROTC and A&S programs building (formerly, the U.S. Bureau of Mines building), which is located at 610 Capstone Drive. People may notice increased activity, including uniformed officers and a canine unit, around the building.
