UA Creative Campus’s Artistry on Wheels Celebrates Vehicle Decorating

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Artistry on Wheels, a competitive car show celebrating art and machinery, will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9, in the ten Hoor lot, behind the Strip on The University of Alabama campus.

UA’s Creative Campus Initiative is sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the public.

The contest itself is open to students of UA, Shelton State Community College, Stillman College and The University of Alabama-Birmingham. Entrants for the show must be current students and show vehicles are open to all makes and models, imports or domestics, including trucks.

Categories for judging will include Best Import, Best Domestic, Best Truck, Best Sound, People’s Choice and Best in Show. Students have entered more than 60 vehicles in the show, and judges will award plaques to the top three in each category.

Vehicles will be judged on paint, body modifications, interiors, trunk, audio/video, engine, suspension, wheels/tires, lighting, glass/windows, craftsmanship/detail and overall appearance.

Artistry on Wheels also is seeking exhibitors to participate beyond the competition. If non-students have a car they would like to show off, contact the organizers at artistryonwheels@gmail.com. Additionally, local businesses that cater to the car hobby are invited to participate.

All that are interested in entering their vehicles should register online at http://www.uacreativecampus.org/Artistry_On_Wheels_Registration. For more information, send an e-mail to artistryonwheels@gmail.com.
