Opinion: Technology A Plus for DeKalb County
Fort Payne Times-Journal – July 26
…Like it or not, DeKalb County will know more about the way the earth moves than it has before thanks to an effort from the University of Alabama and Auburn University…What was learned, though, is they happen more than many thought. And, the recent effort to place one of 23 sensitive seismic stations in the Fischer Community on Lookout Mountain should allow scientist to learn more about how the earth moves here and how often the earth moves here. “This is a huge step forward for us as geologists,” said Alabama geophysicst Andrew Goodliffe. “We’re going to see things that we never knew were there.” That’s what science is all about, and DeKalb County is fortunate to have this new technology in its back yard.
