Alabama Productivity Center Adds Outreach Coordinator

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Jeremy Meade has joined the Alabama Productivity Center at The University of Alabama as a full-time manufacturing outreach coordinator.

Meade studied industrial engineering at UA, where he received his Bachelor of Science in 1999 and his master’s in 2005. He has worked as an industrial engineer at American Cast Iron Pipe Co. and, most recently, at Mercedes Benz U.S. International in Vance, where he was a process engineer and a series planning engineer.

Meade will initiate and coordinate opportunities for the APC graduate students and staff to provide technical assistance to Alabama businesses. He brings with him experience with lean manufacturing systems, a production system that focuses on identifying and eliminating waste.

“We are excited to have Jeremy join the APC team,” said David Miller, center director. “He has a lot of good, practical experience and will be able to add a lot to our projects. Importantly, he has both the technical and personal skills to support the type of projects that we are engaged in.”

The Alabama Productivity Center, a nonprofit organization at The University of Alabama, works to improve Alabama companies’ quality, productivity and competitiveness through the use of the University’s research and educational resources. It is a member of the Alabama Technology Network.
