‘What’s for Dinner?’ Series at UA Focuses on Culinary Culture, Sustainability

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The “What’s for Dinner?” series on culinary culture will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m. in 205 Gorgas featuring a speaker’s panel to discuss the slow food movement, the perfect fruit and sustainability.

Tres Jackson, chef at Tuscaloosa’s Epiphany restaurant, Stephen Schneider of the UA English department, Chip Brantley of the UA department of journalism, and Michael Patton of the University of Montevallo philosophy program will be guest speakers at the event.

UA students in specialty-themed honors composition courses have been reading and writing about culinary culture throughout this spring semester. The event allows students to explore the course theme outside of the classroom and meet speakers who have an expertise on food, culinary arts and sustainability.

The Honors College, First-Year Writing Program, and Housing and Residential Communities will host the event that will include a reception and food tasting; it is free and open to the public.
