Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team from UA to Play for Championship

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will travel to the national championship tournament in Denver, Colo., on April 7, to defend their national title.

National championship game highlights will be broadcast each day on WVUA and webcast live on the NWBA Web site http://www.nwba.org/

Alabama recently defeated the University of Illinois and the University of Wisconsin Whitewater in its final two games of a regular season tournament to improve its record to 33-3 for the season.  The UA team will enter the national championship tournament as the overall top seed.

Alabama beat Wisconsin Whitewater by a score of 76-31. Tara Feser led the way for Alabama with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Karolina Lingyte scored 19 points with 8 assists and 10 rebounds. Annika Zeyen and Cindy Ouellet also scored 10 points each.

In the game against Illinois, Alabama won by a score of 67-46. Lingyte scored 19 points with 6 assists and 7 rebounds, and Feser scored 15 points with 8 rebounds. Janet McLachlan,  Zeyen  and Ouellet scored 10 points each.
