Junior from Madison Elected SGA President at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – James Fowler, a junior from Madison majoring in business and political science, was elected president of The University of Alabama Student Government Association for the 2010-2011 term.

Some 8,099 total votes were cast in the election that was held through online voting March 9.

Fowler received 5,815 votes to defeat challenger Matthew Brown, a junior from Dothan majoring in communications studies and political science.

Other executive officers elected included:

Executive vice president – Nicole Bohannon of Sheffield

Executive secretary – Kelly Corr of Oneonta

Vice president for academic affairs – Aaron Zucker of Charlotte, N.C.

Vice president for external affairs – Grant Cochran of Leland, Miss.

Vice president for financial affairs – Edward Patton of Tuscaloosa

Vice president for student affairs – Stephen Swinson of Savannah, Ga.
