ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Storm Predication Center has placed Alabama at a slight risk for severe weather tonight. The possibility for severe weather increases at 6 p.m. and continues through midnight for Tuscaloosa. Hail, winds up to 60 mph and isolated tornadoes are possible.

H1N1 vaccine (injection and mist) is available for all students at the Student Health Center. Students with no major health problems such as diabetes or asthma can take the nasal mist and receive protection. Those with health problems such as diabetes or asthma require the injection form. Both forms are available at the Student Health Center by either walk-in or appointment (348-2778). The H1N1 vaccine is free of charge. UA is soliciting feedback from the community on the concept of a plaza at Foster Auditorium that will be designed to commemorate the events surrounding the “Stand in the Schoolhouse Door.” Online comments can be made through Jan. 15, 2010, by visiting the UA Web site at http://www.ua.edu and clicking on “Foster Auditorium Plaza Renovation” under Quick Links at the bottom of the page.

STUDENT AFFAIRS

Applications for six different honor societies on campus are now available. The Blue Key Honor Fraternity, the Anderson Society, Omicron Delta Kappa, the Mortar Board, Cardinal Key Honor Society and Lambda Sigma have applications posted at honorsocieties.ua.edu. Job and internship deadlines for summer are approaching. Plan ahead by gathering application materials during the break. EVENTS, ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

Winter commencement ceremonies will be held Saturday, Dec. 12, in Coleman Coliseum at 9 a.m.

Students of UA’s advanced television production course will host their television pilot premiere, titled “Cast and Crew,” at the Bama Theatre on Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available. The Bama Theatre is located at 600 Greensboro Ave. Students in TCF 451 worked together over the course of the semester from story pitch to final production to create the first episode of a potential television series. The story unfolds in Tuscaloosa and revolves around a small television production crew. ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Note cards are now on sale to benefit student art scholarships. Artwork by undergraduate fine arts students in the department of art and art history have been made into notecards. Proceeds go toward research scholarships for undergraduate students in the department. A packet of 15 cards costs $20 and features five designs. To buy the notecards, call the department at 348-5967.

An informational meeting for students interested in academic exchange programs sponsored by the German Academic Exchange Service will be Jan. 6 in 1092 Shelby Hall at 7 p.m. Students interested in an academic experience in Germany are invited to attend. More information: Angie Estes at 348-8539.
