TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Marr’s Field Journal, The University of Alabama’s undergraduate student literary and arts magazine, won a national Pacemaker award Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Associated Collegiate Press/College Media Advisers convention in Austin, Texas.
“We’re very proud of the student staff of the Marr’s Field Journal who captured the publication’s first Pacemaker,” said Paul Wright, UA adviser to the publication. “This honor highlights the excellent literary, art and publication design work being done by UA students.”
This prestigious award honors general excellence in collegiate magazines. Awards are given in two categories: feature and literary magazines. Marr’s Field Journal was one of three four-year schools nationally that won a literary magazine Pacemaker.
The publication also took one of five Best of Show awards among literary magazines in Austin. Convention attendees submit their publications for this competition; the entries are judged during the convention, and winners announced on the last day.
