TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The inaugural Michael P. Cava Lecture at The University of Alabama will be given by Dr. Richard R. Schrock, 2005 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and Frederick J. Keyes Professor of Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The lecture series is named for Dr. Michael P. Cava, Ramsey Chair emeritus in the UA department of chemistry.
Shrock will offer two presentations during his visit to campus. The first consists of an informal presentation on “How Basic Research in Chemistry Led to a Nobel Prize“ to graduate students and other interested guests Wednesday, April 29, from 7-8:30 p.m. in 107 Shelby Hall.
The second presentation is a formal lecture Thursday, April 30, from 12:45-2 p.m. in 151 Shelby Hall on “Thousands of Catalysts for Olefin Metathesis: Variability, Longevity and Asymmetry at the Metal.”
There will be an informal reception Wednesday, April 29, at 4 p.m. in the Shelby Hall Rotunda.
