Safe Spring Break Week is this week. Members of Project Health peer health educators will be stationed around campus throughout the week distributing kits containing items that will increase awareness and help students have a safe spring break.

Fall Parking Permit Registration will begin March 23. Register for your fall parking permit when you register for your fall classes or you will lose your priority. More information: www.bamaparking.ua.edu.

Bama Dining Spring Survey. Take a survey for Bama Dining and enter for a chance to win a free iPod. More information: Matt Mackey at 348-0604.

Crimson Ride buses will run until 6 p.m. Friday, March 13 and will not operate during the week of spring break. Crimson Ride bus service will resume on Monday, March 23 at 7 a.m. Also, 348-RIDE will operate until 7 a.m. Friday, March 13 and will not operate during spring break. 348-RIDE will resume limited service on Sunday, March 22 at 10 a.m. and will resume normal hours of operation on Sunday, March 22 at 10 p.m.

The Creative Campus Initiative is now accepting applications for its 2009-2010 Intern Class. Creative Campus seeks interns representative of all 13 UA colleges and schools and is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. The UA Libraries is sponsoring a Book Collecting Contest for UA students. The contest will showcase the interests and changing book-collecting habits of students in the 21st century. Contest entry forms and rules can be picked up at Gorgas, Bruno, Rodgers, McLure or Hoole libraries or downloaded from the UA Libraries Web site at www.lib.ua.edu/mystuff. EVENTS, ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Alpha Delta Pi and Beta Theta Pi will host Crawfish for a Cause on March 10 from 4-6 p.m. on the front lawn of the Beta house. Bayou Seafood will provide all-you-can-eat crawfish. Tickets are $10 at the door, cash or check only. Proceeds will benefit the new Ronald McDonald House room being established at DCH Hospital. More information: Stacey Stewart or Hunter Hodges.

The University Supply Store will hold its Graduation Celebration Tuesday-Thursday, March 24-26 in the Ferguson Center Ballroom from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. Graduating students may place orders for class rings, graduation announcements, regalia and diploma frames and have cap and gown portraits taken. Representatives from various campus offices will be available to provide assistance. Class rings may be ordered Friday, March 27 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Refreshments, including lunch, will be served at the event and a number of door prizes will be awarded. Five different colleges from UA are participating in the Holt Community Partnership Festival on March 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the event, which will highlight ways Tuscaloosa residents can get involved in the community.

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

SGA SPIRIT Scholarship applications are now available. Applications also may be found in the SGA office in the Ferguson Center. Applications are due March 27 at 4:45 p.m. More information: Mary Lawhorn at 348-8321.

The Career Center is now accepting applications for 2009-2010 Peer Advisors. This leadership program is designed to educate and train undergraduate students on career-related topics so they can provide assistance to their peers. The deadline to apply is March 11. Medical school applicant evaluations with Dr. Nathan Smith, assistant dean for admissions at UAB School of Medicine, will be March 25 from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Any student interested in the health field may participate. A sign-up list will be available in Chris Hutt’s office in 103 Wilson Hall. Smith will discuss “what makes a good medical school candidate” and give advice on admissions on March 24 at 7 p.m. in 30 ten Hoor at the AED meeting. More information: Chris Hutt at 348-5902.
