High School Students to Visit UA for German Day

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will host its annual High School German Day on Monday, March 2 at the Ferguson Center with some 350 high school students from across the state expected to be on campus to participate in the event.

The theme this year is famous Germans. The students will participate in several competitions including poetry presentations, extemporaneous speaking, a spelling bee, singing and skits. Students will also be judged on their submitted posters, original art work and videos.

At the conclusion of the event, a representative from Mercedes-Benz U.S. International will present a $1,000 scholarship to the highest performing high school senior to attend UA. The scholarship announcement will take place during the awards ceremony in the Ferguson Center Theatre at 2 p.m.
