Changes to non-reserved parking deck access. Effective Aug. 16, access to all non-reserved decks will be card swipe or pay upon entry. For more parking information, visit http://bamaparking.ua.edu/index.html.

Motorcycle/Scooter policy takes effect Aug. 16. All motorcycles and motorized scooters are now required to register with transportation services at 103 Student Services Center. The cost of the permit is $50 and will be valid for one year from Aug. 16 through Aug. 15, 2009. For a full explanation of the rules related to motorcycles and scooters, please visit the Web site.

Offices/services open this weekend. Action Card, parking, student financial aid, student receivables and the University Supply Store will all be open Saturday, Aug. 16, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 17, 12:30-5 p.m.

Fall Kick-off is Aug. 19. Pepsi/Buffalo Rock vending, Bama Dining, Action Card and the Supply Store will welcome students back with a kick-off event in the Plaza, featuring samples, give-aways, coupons and information Aug. 19 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Ferguson Plaza.

Crimson Ride kickoff event is Aug. 19. Come to the Ferguson Center Plaza on Aug. 19 from 8 a.m.–4 p.m. to tour a Crimson Ride bus and enjoy free food and other giveaways.

Colonial and Magnolia Drives closed half days on Aug. 16 and 17. Colonial and Magnolia Drives will be closed Saturday, Aug. 16 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m.-noon, the last two days of the sorority recruitment process.

Microsoft Office promotion for UA students. UA students have the opportunity to purchase the full version of Microsoft Office for $49.95 directly from Microsoft via the Internet Aug. 20–30. Phi Sigma Pi will host an information session on Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. in 305 Ferguson Center. Come get involved on campus by joining this co-ed national honors fraternity. More information: Mary Nell Coleman.

CBS iReport Film Festival: Campaign 2008. Submit your short films from the campaign trail to win an HD camera and a chance to travel to the Presidential Inauguration. Films can cover anything from a specific topic or candidate you are passionate about to a behind-the-scenes look at a campaign or grassroots political organization. The winner will be announced on Anderson Cooper 360. Submissions are due Oct. 12. More information: Karen Varga-Sinka.

Rude Mechanicals to present third anthology. The Rude Mechanicals, Tuscaloosa’s free Shakespeare in the park theatre company is presenting its third annual anthology, “Shake-Scenes 3: Songs, Sonnets, and Scenes from Shakespeare” Thursday-Saturday, Aug. 14-16, 7:30-9 p.m., lower level River Road Park East. Free admission. Bring chairs/blankets and bug spray, but no glass bottles.

Tuscaloosa Winds welcomes new members. The Tuscaloosa Winds is seeking students, faculty and community members who play or played various instruments. The next meeting will be Monday, Aug. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Moody Music Building. More information: www.tuscaloosawinds.ua.edu.
