UA’s Alabama Center for Real Estate Announces the ACRE Professional Development Series

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A new initiative has been created by the Alabama Center for Real Estate at The University of Alabama. The ACRE Professional Development Series will bring experts in the field of real estate to cities throughout the state of Alabama.

This spring the series brings two issues currently at the forefront of the real estate community’s concern: foreclosures and how economic conditions will impact real estate.

“One of our guiding principles is to disseminate and interpret new knowledge impacting the real estate industry, such as laws, regulations and technology,” said Grayson Glaze, executive director of the Alabama Center for Real Estate, known as ACRE. “We plan to aggressively provide education and seminars to industry stakeholders.”

In addition to receiving the latest in foreclosure and economic information, those attending will be able to earn three hours of continuing education credit.

Adding to the timeliness and importance of the series is the chance to listen to one of the nation’s most popular authors on real estate related topics, Denise Evans, a UA professor of real estate, and to the state’s leading economic analyst, Ahmad Ijaz.

Evans has just published “Practical Answers to the TOP 125 Questions on Foreclosures,” and Ijaz has been at the forefront of several highly regarded economic analyses ranging from the economic impact of UA football to the impact of new manufacturing and industrial projects.

New York Times writer John Schwartz wrote:

Denise Evans, the author of “How to Make Money on Foreclosures,” says that you can be “a hero, a champion, a doer of good deeds, and make money.” Somebody is in over his head, and is going to lose his home. “Someone else is going to buy it at a bargain price,” she writes. “It might as well be you.”

“2008 Economic Conditions and Their Impact on the Alabama Real Estate Industry,” was authored by Ijaz, an economist at UA’s Center for Business and Economic Research.

Ijaz will present his topic on the economy and how it affects real estate from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Huntsville Association of Realtors, 535 Monroe Street, in Huntsville.

Evans will present her topic on foreclosures at the Tuscaloosa Association of Realtors in Tuscaloosa. This session will be from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25.

Evans will make another presentation from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the Birmingham Association of Realtors, 3501 Independence Drive in Birmingham.
