TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Panhellenic Association, the Interfraternity Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council are hosting Greek Week 2008 on campus April 6-11.
Greek Week is the largest philanthropy event that the Greek community participates in every year at UA. Last year, three charities received $11,000 each from the event. This year’s charities include Laps for Cystic Fibrosis, Habitat for Humanity of Tuscaloosa, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and SGA book scholarships.
Events for UA Greek Week include:
Block Party: Sorority Row Cookout
Sunday, April 6, 6-8 p.m., Magnolia Drive will be blocked off
- The event will be catered by Full Moon Barbecue, entertainment by Whiskey River Band
- Tickets are $7
Community Service Project
Monday, April 7-Thursday, April 10
- Working with Habitat for Humanity on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m.
- Working with Children’s Hands-On Museum on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon.
1st Greek Scholarship Tailgate
Tuesday, April 8
- Greek students who made a 4.0 GPA last semester are invited to a catered tailgate prior to the UA baseball game to celebrate their academic success and will be joined by UA faculty members.
Wear Your Letters Day and Alabama Baseball
Tuesday, April 8
- Greek students are supporting Alabama athletics by attending the Alabama vs. Mississippi Valley State baseball game at 6:30 p.m.
- Greek students will wear their letters
Greek Olympics
Wednesday, April 9
- Greek Olympics on the Quad from 3-5 p.m.
SGA Date Auction
Wednesday, April 9
- 10 p.m.-2 a.m. at The Station, auction starts at 10:30 p.m.
- Money raised goes to SGA book scholarships
- Ryan Kinder Band playing
American Red Cross Blood Drive
Thursday, April 10
- Blood Drive donation center at the Student Recreation Center from 1-6 p.m.

Friday, April 11
- Banners in front of sorority houses, Sorority Row
