TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration has formed a partnership with The University of Alabama Safe State Consultation Program, White-Spunner Construction Inc., and the Alabama chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America in an effort to ensure the highest level of employee safety and health during the construction of White-Spunner’s new corporate offices in Mobile.
The Safe State Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Program is a free service provided by the UA College of Continuing Studies to small employers within the state. The program provides small businesses the use of consultants to make suggestions for improvements to create a safer and healthier work environment.
The agencies recently participated in a signing ceremony at the construction site of the new headquarters, designed to be a two-story building covering 40,000 square feet in Mobile along the I-65 service road south of Government Boulevard.
OSHA’s Strategic Partnership Program is part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao’s ongoing efforts to improve the health and safety of employees through cooperative relationships with trade associations, labor organizations, employers and employees. More than 1.2 million employees and more than 21,000 employers across the U.S. have participated with OSHA in 484 strategic partnerships since the program began in 1998. For more information about this partnership, contact Jeff Funke, acting director of OSHA’s Mobile area office, at 251/441-6338.
