Dr. Micki McElya, assistant professor of American studies at The University of Alabama, will discuss her new book, “Clinging to Mammy: The Faithful Slave in Twentieth-Century America” (Harvard University Press, 2007) on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 4:30 p.m. in the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library reading room.
British playwright John Gober serves up a sweet-and-sour mix of late-night fun and morning-after reality in the boisterous comedy “Bouncers,” to be performed Tuesday, Nov. 27, through Sunday, Dec. 2, at The University of Alabama’s Allen Bales Theatre.
