TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity will be hosting their 5th annual charity golf tournament to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Greater Birmingham on Saturday, April 28 at the Highlands Golf Course in Birmingham.
Team and hole sponsorships have been sold throughout the community for the past weeks resulting in 16 teams and 11 sponsorships from donors including Westwind Technologies, Balfour and Mellow Mushroom. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place teams, and the players with the longest drive and best chip shot.
Alpha Kappa Lambda raised $7,000 through their golf tournament last year. By working closely with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, they were able to have their most successful turnout thus far and are hoping to build on that this year.
Alpha Kappa Lambda has been involved in other philanthropic events this semester including Habitat for Humanity, the Heart Walk, playing bridge with the residents of Capstone Village, and These Hands Don’t Hurt, a fund-raiser that promotes awareness of domestic violence. The fraternity also has a team participating in the upcoming American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
