TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Fourth grade students at Tuscaloosa’s Martin Luther King Elementary school will use dance, fashion and hip hop music to spark creativity during the Creative Writing Project held by student volunteers from The University of Alabama on Friday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at the school.
Students from UA Creative Campus have collaborated with student artists from the Hip Hop and Beyond Summit (to be held at UA Feb. 22) to produce this event for the elementary students.
The Creative Writing Project connects UA volunteers with fourth graders at Martin Luther King Elementary School every Friday afternoon. Volunteers lead class and individual exercises in poetry, short story writing, spoken word and visual art. The children’s numerous literary artworks are compiled into an end-of-the-semester newsletter or exhibit.
