Pam Doyle Tran Named Assistant Dean for UA College of Communication and Information Sciences

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Dr. Pamela Doyle Tran has been named assistant dean for undergraduate studies at The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences.

“This is a critical administrative position in our College, and we are very fortunate to have it filled by a faculty member with Pam’s experience and dedication to student success,” said Dr. Loy Singleton, dean of the College.

As assistant dean, Tran is responsible for undergraduate services including advising, admissions and records. She also coordinates student governance activities and serves as the academic disciplinarian for the college.

Tran, who has been with the University since 1991, is a faculty member in the department of telecommunication and film where she directs the broadcast news sequence, their competition team and their internship program. Tran’s creative production pieces air on Alabama Public Radio and at national media festivals.

The College of Communication and Information Sciences is among the largest and most prestigious communication colleges in the country, having graduated more than 12,000 students and ranking among the top institutions in the country in the number of doctorates awarded. Communication graduates have earned four of the six Pulitzer Prizes awarded to UA alumni.
