‘Angel Street’ at UA’s Allen Bales Theatre Feb. 13-18, Play Goers Encouraged to Donate to Project S.H.A.R.E

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama department of theatre and dance presents “Angel Street,” Feb. 13-18 in the Allen Bales Theatre on Stadium Drive in the UA theatre district.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the box office in Rowand-Johnson Hall 1-5 p.m., or by calling 205/348-3400.

Each person who purchases a ticket to the show is encouraged to donate a dollar or more to Project S.H.A.R.E (Services to Help Alabamians with Relief on Energy). This philanthropic gesture is inspired by the movie, based on “Angel Street,” entitled “Gaslight.”

“Customers have been really enthusiastic to give to such a worthy cause,” said Angela Mattox, UA department of theatre and dance box office manager. “The department looks forward to raising a significant amount of money to help pay the bill of elderly and financially disabled persons in the month of February.”

This Broadway hit is an intriguing and classic piece by Patrick Hamilton which influenced the making of two films. It is a suspenseful Victorian tale of the suave but sinister man whose wife is slowly slipping into madness.

The department of theatre and dance is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest liberal arts college in the state. Students from the college have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the “USA Today” Academic All American Team.
