UA Professor Appointed as IEEE’s Corporate Integrity Contact Person

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has appointed Dr. Lloyd A. “Pete” Morley, professor emeritus of electrical engineering at The University of Alabama, as corporate integrity contact person.

UA Engineering Professor Certified by U.S. Department of Energy as Qualified Specialist

Dr. Robert P. Taylor, professor of mechanical engineering at The University of Alabama, was recently certified by the U.S. Department of Energy as a qualified specialist in process heating assessments.

UA Ranks 11th in Enrollment of National Merit Scholars

The University of Alabama’s vision of recruiting the “best and brightest” students is clearly becoming a reality as UA ranks 11th in the nation among public universities in the enrollment of National Merit Scholars for 2006-2007, and 29th among all universities. The rankings, based on the National Merit Scholarship Corp.’s newly-released 2005-2006 annual report, place UA among the top 8 percent nationally among colleges and universities that enrolled National Merit Scholars.

African-American Read-In to be Held at UA

The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center and the WILL program (Women Involved in Learning and Leading) are sponsoring the National African-American Read-In Monday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. in the UA Crossroads Community Center lounge in Ferguson Center.
