UA Alumni Group to Honor First African-American Student

The University of Alabama’s African-American Alumni Network (AAAN) will honor UA’s first African-American student, Autherine Lucy Foster, at a special ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 28. The event, titled “Tribute to the Trailblazer,” is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Ferguson Center ballroom on the UA campus. The public is invited.

UA Homecoming Concert Moved to Better Accommodate Large Crowd

The University of Alabama Homecoming Concert by the Ying Yang Twins hip hop duo will be held on the grass parking lot just west of University Medical Center to better accommodate the anticipated large crowd. The concert will begin at 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27.

Peru Expert and Former Peruvian Marine to Speak at UA

Dr. Jorge Ortiz Sotelo, a historian from Peru and former Peruvian marine, will give a talk as a guest of The University of Alabama department of history and the Latin American Studies Program. UA Evolution Lectureship Series Continues with Philosopher Barbara Forrest

The third in a series of public lectures on evolution will continue at The University of Alabama with philosopher Barbara Forrest. Forrest will speak on “The Wedge Strategy: The Political Relevance of Intelligent Design Creationism” Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Biology Building auditorium, room 127, on the UA campus.
