TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – “Resiliency, Rebuilding, Recovery” will be the focus of this year’s Alabama/Mississippi Social Work Education Conference, Oct. 19-20 at The University of Alabama. The program will include several presentations on social work’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
The two-day conference, hosted by the UA School of Social Work, will be held at the Bryant Conference Center on the UA campus.
Jane Parker, associate dean of the Tulane School of Social Work, will give the opening address Oct. 19 at 8:30 a.m. She has over 30 years experience in social work practice and teaching in the areas of community disaster, organizational trauma, medical conditions, and traumatic illness. Her clients have included over 150 health, human service, military, and airline organizations in the United States, Europe and Asia.
