UA Department of Theatre and Dance Presents ‘Our Town’ Sept. 26-Oct. 1

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama department of theatre and dance presents “Our Town” Sept. 26-Oct. 1, in the Gallaway Theatre on Stadium Drive in the UA Theatre District.

Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for UA faculty, staff and senior citizens, and $8 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office in Rowand-Johnson Hall between 1 and 5 p.m., or by calling 205/348-3400. Additional information can be found at www.as.ua.edu/theatre.

“Our Town” is a journey to 1901 Grover’s Corners, a city rich in tradition and as American as apple pie. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Thornton Wilder is hailed by the New York Times as “Thornton Wilder’s masterpiece.”

Allison Hetzel, an assistant professor of theatre, makes her UA directing debut on the Gallaway Theatre stage. Before joining the faculty at The University of Alabama this semester, Hetzel taught at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for three years. The cast is comprised of talented actors including the new class of graduate acting students who will also make their UA debut on the Gallaway stage with this production

The department of theatre and dance is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest public liberal arts college in the state. Students from the college have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the “USA Today” Academic All American Team.
