TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University Transportation Center for Alabama, headquartered at The University of Alabama, was recently chosen by the U.S. Department of Transportation as one of 20 transportation research centers to receive grant funding.
The UTCA will receive $860,000 to advance the nation’s transportation system through education, research and technology transfer. The grant funding is administered through the DOT’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration.
“We are delighted to receive this grant, which means that the combined expertise of faculty members at UA, UAB and UAH will be directed toward the most important transportation opportunities and challenges facing our state,” said Dr. Dan Turner, professor of civil and environmental engineering and director of the UTCA.
The University Transportation Center for Alabama conducts transportation education, research and technology transfer activities utilizing faculty members and students from The University of Alabama, The University of Alabama at Birmingham and The University of Alabama in Huntsville.
UTCA’s mission is to advance technology and expertise in the multiple disciplines that comprise transportation through the mechanisms of education, research and technology transfer while serving as a university-based center of excellence.
